Supporting Mexican Missionaries:
Through our relationship with the Ellos te Necesitan (They Need You) group, we have had the opportunity over the years to help develop local church attenders into better advocates for the mission field. Our desire is to see more Mexicans involved in missions, whether that is going or consistently supporting those who go.
We currently help support 4 Oaxacan Mexican Missionaries (2 singles and 2 families) in both financial ways, as well as connecting them to resources, helping them get appropriate training and rest when needed. We encourage you to pray for:
We currently help support 4 Oaxacan Mexican Missionaries (2 singles and 2 families) in both financial ways, as well as connecting them to resources, helping them get appropriate training and rest when needed. We encourage you to pray for:
- Babú serving in Nepal with church planting efforts. He is currently back in Mexico due to significant health concerns. Pray that his health will improve enough for him to be able to return. Pray for his Nepalese co-workers.
- Marcos in the Zapoteco speaking area of Loxicha, in the mountains close to the Pacific coast involved in his local church and a Christian radio broadcasting from there into the mountainous indigenous areas. Pray for strength to be Protestant (evangélico) in an area that is generally hostile to our gospel. Pray for resources to maintain and upgrade the studio and equipment. Pray for financial support for Marcos and his family.
- Sister Dalila serves as the Pastor of her church in San Miguel, El Grande, a Mixteco speaking community in the mountains about 2 hours outside the capital city. She has outreach into local “closed” communities through children’s Bible programs. Pray for needed financial support, for knowledge and wisdom to increase as she finishes a degree in Theology, for good friendships and for doors to open wider in the communities she ministers to.
- Familia Carrasco live in the Pacific port of Pinotepa Nacional and are serving the youth in their
church as well as trying to educate about and mobilize people into the mission field.
Pray for protection for their family as this area has a high presence of gang activity. Pray that they
can convince their church to become active in training their members who are sent to plant
churches. Many of those desiring to serve, or already serving, still lack a high school education.
Pray for a recent connection with a Mexican Seminary that they might be able to begin formalized
training for themselves and others.
Albergue Project
The albergue project is designed to help people who have loved ones in the local hospitals. Think of it much like a Ronald McDonald house in the US. We have a piece of land identified and much of the paperwork completed for our non-profit status. We have an architectural drawing ready.
Please pray for either the local government of this indigenous owned area to approve our request (they were presented with the request several months ago, but they have been stalling us for the last couple of years) or that another opportunity in nearby areas would open up. Pray for divine encounters to help us discern which direction to move with this project. |

Amanacer Jewelry Initiative
Amanacer (Dawn) flows out of the Girasol downtown center. Women who chose to leave the work downtown join with other women seeking opportunities to work sewing hand-made jewelry, participating in daily Bible study, and attending classes. They attend life skills classes which includes trauma healing, cooking and nutrition, how to cut hair or decorate cakes, etc. They also attend Jobs for Life training which is a Biblically based program that helps them learn job searching skills, as well as how to be an invaluable employee. They make a plan for how they will move forward towards a better financial future as part of this class. This often begins with finishing their education. Each student has an assigned mentor that walks with them in this time of challenges and growth in their spiritual and employment life.
We have women come and share in the class about their jobs and careers, have at least one on-hands computer class (some have never used a computer before) and last year we even took a field trip to a bakery with one of the students who wants to open her own bakery.
Pray for the current class of mentors in training. Pray that we find the right women to enter into the program. Pray for continued outlets for jewelry sales in the US. Follow us on Facebook. |

Girasol Women's Center
pregnancies, helped with medical needs, provided counseling when asked, distributed Bibles when asked, celebrated birthdays and special holidays, painted a lot of nails, and done crafts.
Pray for safety for all our volunteers. Continue to pray that God will bring more volunteers to the team. Pray for financial resources to pay the rent and for all the supplies we use month-to-month. Pray for the possibility of hiring a full-time Mexican director.

This is our local church. It is not large, but they have a big heart. We enjoy worshiping with them and listening to the Word of God preached in Spanish.

Oaxaca Christian School
We help support this school which is an English-speaking home school cooperative preparing children of missionaries and pastors so they can enter college (or whatever they might do) in the US. Beverly is their book keeper and is teaching a speech class and Steve occasionally speaks at their chapel time.
- Pray for more students to join the school, and for more teachers to come and teach.
- Pray for wisdom for the board of directors and the leadership of the school as they negotiate difficult financial times.
